Forum Title: Need advice for painting vinyl shutters
I am painting some shutters and the old paint is peeling. The first one i worked with i was able to completely remove ild paint by hand in about 15 minutes. I thought I would be able to do that to all of them and i was wrong. Most of the rest of them are not peeling as easily. They used the plastic pegs to mount the shutters and then painted over the whole thing. So on most of them it is around the pegs where it is peeling. So now I am worried if i just scrape the parts that peel easily and repaint them my paint will end up peeling from whats underneath. Scraping all the shutters will be alot of labor not to mention the vinyl scratches easily. Any ideas?

I use Sherwin Williams Resillience with vinyl guard. If you worried about it and have the time use oil base primer first .
